Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here. Believe in kissing.

  • // discussing failure. Baseball is a huge part of this conversation of life...those opportunities to fail there are pretty abundant. Translating that into opportunities for growth is kinda hard. His dad talked about the Bible story of Jonah and him being in the position of opportunity to be swallowed by a big fish. What seemed like a disaster was necessary. Stress caused him to do different and be different. It's hard when you wonder if you're good. If you're the right person or athlete for this; if you're in the right spot or good enough. It's such a mental game and it doesn't discriminate. Everyone goes there...but then what?
