They’re coming…the trees are coming to our street and I can’t wait to be a full-fledged tree hugger. We have three gaping, kid swallowing holes in our yard, as do most of our neighbors, and tomorrow they shall be filled.

But with trees, not with children. Sadness for Holden.

More fantastic news. Got a new lens today: a 50mm 1.8 fixed lens. One week ago, that would have meant nothing to me but a bunch a gibberish. But I’ve been reading a new blog, Mom*Tog, and decided to give it a shot. And you know, I just can’t stop smiling, it is that cool. It captured Ewan holding the dog’s slobber ball quite nicely. Blech, but cute.

I love it. It just may be the new favorite.

And now it’s time to make good on that promise of capturing a smiling Ewan.

It’s not so hard when you feed him Coconut-Pecan Cupcakes with Chocolate Ganache Frosting. Those cupcakes, aside from the few that didn’t make the cut of perfection, went to celebrate the soon-to-be newest baby girl in my family of friends…”Dirtbike” or so she’s been named by her brothers.

Besides cupcakes, however, water will also bring a goofy smile to Ewan’s face.

That is, after he climbs up through the obstacle course of our back deck.

And raspberries perched on fingers aren’t too bad on the smiling scale, either.

Especially if you can squish them before tasting. And also especially if you do this after whipping your bib around backwards like a superhero cape and unleash not just any ol’ squishing technique, but your superhero raspberry squishing power.

But the finale of today was Ewan trying to coax Hank into relinquishing his gum. Let’s see how that worked out. And oh look, there’s still some raspberry evidence on his cheek. Huh.

Not to Ewan’s advantage, I’m afraid. But we did get lots of finger poking and tongue sticking out-ing. Made for a good show.

And here we are at the end of another pretty good day and lots of soft little snores are making their way over the baby monitor. We’d better turn in as well and rest up our arms.

Got some hugging to do tamale.
