Yesterday, we decided that today would be the day.

Park2

Park21

We packed a picnic basket full, loaded a backpack up with essentials (you know, a baseball glove, a tennis ball, a plastic bat, and some Ninjago stuff), and I used my feet as transportation while the boys rode their bikes furiously around the corner to a new-to-us park.

Park27

We had an interloper.

Park7

Todd Helton the Cat followed us there. He had some scouting to do.

Park19

Holden decided to be Robin to THTC’s Batman and help him catch a bird.

Park13

Park12

Park11

THTC was not impressed. And birds are fast.

Park1

Park3

He decided he’d better go it alone for a while.

Park6

Park5

Park4

And they decided to keep all of their ham and cheese bits for themselves.

By the way, I think that the boys are seriously channeling Nixon.

Park10

Park9

Good grief.

Holden had spent his very own money earlier today on a coveted can of Silly String.

Park24

Park25

Park14

There’s a whole lot of silly, but not a lot of string, in those cans.

Park15

It petered out pretty quickly.

Park18

Park23

And off they went in a different direction: new park equipment.

Park26

Park20

He showed off a pretty good kip.

Park30

Park29

And he teased me with daring acrobatics.

Park28

I swear he needs to wear a stinkin’ helmet until stinkin’ August. I’ve never been such a helicopter mom as I am at this moment in life; Sweet Aunt Petunia but this is stressful.

Park17

Park8

You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.

.Winnie the Pooh.

Other parks in the new ‘hood? We’re coming your way next. And possibly with our cat.
