Sum-sum-summertime!
Holden finished up soccer early in the late spring/early summer and is just about finished with T-ball as well. We’ve been spending lots of time in the front yard with neighborhood friends while the boys ride their bikes and scooters and play with the hose. We’ve had a fun-filled, though at time white trash, summer by putting a giant canopy (actually called a “portable garage”) over the driveway for a garage sale, nearly four hours of fun with fireworks on the Fourth (complete with questionably legal things from Wyoming – the mecca for fireworks), and as of last night, an 18-foot slip ‘n slide and pizza (well, the pizzas were only 10-14”). I’m sure our neighbors across the street have been quite mortified. What the heck. The rest of us have had a blast and Holden is creating memories with his little friends that are absolutely priceless.
We’ve been able to take a couple of trips to the mountains and will probably take a couple of more this summer. We stayed one weekend in Estes Park with good friends who also have two boys and will be going to Winter Park with the Pazourecks this week. Later this month, the Johnstons will come through on their way to Vail and then Hank and a couple of guys are going on a motorcycle trip to Wyoming.
Next will be a trip to Detroit to see Grand-daddy, Grandma Mary, and Aunt Claudia, and then off to Oregon to celebrate my…gulp…40th birthday (oh my Lord). Quickly after should be Nick’s graduation from boot camp and Advanced Infantry Training in Georgia.
And then, we will breathe. :)
Below are a few of my favorite pics so far this year:
