Yeehaw.
Ok. Lotsa pictures. And those of the bulls aren’t great, because we were about 30 yards from the bulls and I only had my 85mm lens, so they’re all cropped in and awful.
Awfully funny.
So I shall back up.
We went to the National Western Stock Show, baby.
Very different from the Oklahoma State Fair, mind you, but our boys loved it.
Check it.
First, we almost lost them in the fancy trailers.
And then, we almost lost them in the John Deere tractor area.
The little guy sat in every one and put the seat belt on. Every one. About five different times, each.
Older brother wasn’t that far behind.
Until something captured his attention…
And he redirected.
Oh dear.
Legends of the Fall, anyone?
That coat weighed somewhere between 26-40 pounds, depending on how excited Hank is when he’s telling you the story.
Oh, and at dinner, I had some Perrier. I mean Coors. Same thing.
And the boys excitedly geared up for the big show.
And now…the bull riding stuff, my favorite.
Or, as I like to call it, flying cowboys.
Seriously? These guys were named Dakota and Ty and Kody and Danger and Chase.
Their bulls were named things like “Dr. Feel Good” and “The Hard Way”.
That cowboy guy above? He got hurt and cowboy doctors came out to help him. Not doctors named Dr. Feel Good, either.
All this action made our little guy do stuff like this.
And friends’ boys did stuff like this. They seem more calm than ours, yes?
So we had to watch some more, peeking through our fingers a little bit.
And then some other stuff happened and a couple of cowboys and a cowgirl penned some cows and won about $135,000, and a Colorado bull-riding cowboy won about $4,250.
That seems a little backwards, but what do I know. I didn’t even bring the right lens.
Yeehaw, ya’ll.
